Understanding Higher Education

Universities did not come from nowhere — there are reasons why they are the way they are. There is a history, too, and that history helps explain the institutions.

Schools are different in different times and places. Looking at those differences can help us understand our own experiences, good and bad. Investigating other ways of schooling can also help us imagine new possibilities.
